How Can a Debt Relief Company Help You?

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Some people do not know how powerful a debt settlement company can be to their future financial security. Using a debt settlement company to fix bad credit can impact many different areas of life and produce better opportunities in the future once your bad credit has been fixed. Utilizing a debt settlement company can help a person establish great credit faster and go a long way towards helping them attain the things that they want in life.

Using a debt settlement company will mean that you will get a easier chance of being approved for additional credit or loan products in the future. Being able to be authorized for additional loans is very important for purchasing a new car or obtaining a mortgage loan to purchase a house. Fixing poor credit with a debt settlement company can increase your chances of being authorized by the lender or the credit card company that you are interested in doing business with.

People that have utilized a debt relief company will commonly get lower interest rates for credit cards and loans when compared to a individual that has poor credit and bad marks on their credit report. Credit card companies view the individual as a small risk customer when they have utilized a debt relief company to help. This supplies the credit card company with the alternative to offer the person a lower rate because they think that they will recieve their payments on time. Aquiring a lower interest rate can save you tons of money through the years of your loan.

The thought of making money online from a website you just designed using 10-year-old crayola crayons, while knowing little to nothing about html coding, script building and placement into a webpage, let alone marketing a website effectively. Choose a web hosting provider that has everything you need and more to be successful online. The thought of where to begin can be daunting for some, usually most novices like me. The best part of your soon to be success in website design and promotion, is the fact that you won’t have to pay an arm and a leg to get your hands on these powerful website building and promotional tools.

1. Easy to build “Great Looking” Websites

Building an online business does not have to be difficult especially when there are, 1000’s of great tools and services that will allow you to build a good-looking website with an e-commerce functionality to it. However, how much will a good looking and functional online store cost you, will it be easy to customize it, and will it be compatible with most browsers that are used online today? Online business success consists of many factors; however, the most important factor comes from an old saying, “always make the best first impression.” This is true in life and in business. Therefore, your website must make the best first impression it can. Using those free hosting services surely will not do the trick; however, one could make a good website using free hosting services. As for a business website, those free services will not do your business any justice. You will need your own domain name, good looking website templates that are easy to customize for your business. If you are currently running your online business using free hosting services or someone else’s domain name, I highly recommend you to get your own domain name and website hosted. Find one simple service with one simple price for your hosting package plus a slue of website promotion tools, scripts, forms, list builders and so much more all for one tiny little price. You will get this absolutely free just for hosting with us. What is more is that you do not need any products. However, you can always add your own products if you currently do not have your own products or services to market online. Need a merchant account for your e-commerce, credit card accepting website, no problem we can help you with that as well. You can easily integrate these services into your domain when you sign up for our web hosting service.

3. Easy Website Automation

The success of your website and business largely depends on the automation of your website. This is true because the less time you spend on working on your website sending out email newsletters, thank you notices, and online business manual tasks; the more time you can spend on promoting and building your business and profits. Your credit card acceptance services can be integrated into your domain and hosting package at no additional charge. Powder Skiing for the Young at Heart

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

About 8 years ago, I got a call from the daughter an old friend. “It’s Dad’s 60th birthday soon and the family wants to send him on a ski trip. We are hoping that you and Bill and Owen will keep him company”. “Sure”, I said, expecting a destination like Sun Peaks or Rossland. “Where are we going?” “Cat Skiing near Fernie.” “What skiing?” “Cat skiing!” “What’s Cat Skiing?” “Its backcountry skiing from snowcats, sort of a poor man’s heli-skiing.” “Can I afford it?” “You can’t afford to miss this!”

That four-day trip was the start of seven years of superb skiing. On that first trip, we had a marvelous time and powder skiing, the likes of which none of us could remember. Run after run in fresh, untracked snow. There were steep rollovers that put my heart in my throat, where the deep snow seemed to support us like an invisible hand, letting us down the fall line slowly and gently. Wow! Face shots galore! I thought, “Life is too short not to be doing this every year!”

On the second day of that tour, I presented myself at the lodge office and requested a booking for the following year. “Sorry, full up”. “No!” “Yes!” “However, the year after has an opening, and you could have a whole cat.” “Done”, I said, and thought, “You fool, what are you doing?”

After much effort, evening after evening of phone calls, hounding old friends and a very long wait, we were back two years later with twelve good men and women. Some were old ski friends of almost 50 years. We had another wonderful trip with great skiing, great snow and great company.

Now, years later, we are still at it. We’ve changed venue from near Fernie to a spot near Golden, B.C., where the skiing is a little higher and the snow seems to be a little more reliable. Our host is Chatter Creek Snowcat Skiing (www.chattercreekcatskiing.com), a partnership of four personable young men who run an excellent operation, about 20 minutes by helicopter north of Golden, on the western flank of the Rocky Mountains.

The 130 sq. km. tenure includes a large glacier at just under 10,000ft. elevation, huge open alpine slopes and bowls and a number of enormous ridges that offer superb tree skiing. After many trips to Chatter Creek, we have yet to ski the entire area. Each summer, snowcat roads are extended to open up ever more terrain. An application has been made to increase the terrain size by about 85%. See Cat Skiing Terrain (http://www.cat-skiing-terrain.blogspot.com) for a photographic tour of the Chatter Creek tenure.

Skiing on the Vertebrae glacier is “mellow” and the views are spectacular. From the highest point, the view spreads to the west, over nearby peaks and ridges to the distant Adamant Range and Selkirk Mountains. To the east, much nearer and in clear view, are countless peaks and snowfields of the Continental Divide, including the Clemenceau Icefield, Mt Columbia and the Snow Dome. The latter is the source of the famous Columbia Icefield and contains the hydrographic apex of North America. As skiers ski on the glacier, the unusual “squiggles” of the Sullivan Fault fill the view and forms the backdrop of many a guest photograph. See Glacier Skiing at Chatter Creek (http://glacier-skiing.blogspot.com) for many photos from the Vertebrae glacier.

On bluebird days, the guides usually head to the high alpine for a few runs on the Vertebrae glacier, or in one of the many large bowls or slopes such as the Clamshell, upper Lodge Ridge, Super Spruce, South Park, Lakeview , and Oyster Bowl. After a few of runs, the group will move on to nearby areas, skiing here and there on the way, never staying long in any one spot. Every run in untracked snow!

Snowcat rides are rarely more than 15 to 20 minutes long, usually just long enough to enjoy half a sandwich and a drink, to rest the legs and to share a couple of bad jokes with our companions. The Bombardier snowcats (http://www.bombardier-snowcats-at-chatter-creek.blogspot.com) are warm and comfortable. They accommodate 12 guests, two guides and a driver. The three cats move independently and are usually out of sight of one another all day.

When skiing, the guide keeps the group together, while allowing everyone their own line in unbroken snow. There’s no pressure to “farm” snow.

The speed of the group and number of stops depends on the group. Faster groups of expert skiers may ski non-stop to the bottom. Groups of intermediate skiers may stop along the way, to regroup, rest, share experiences and take pictures. Cat skiing is laid back and relaxed. The guests “call the shots” and determine the pace. The guides concentrate on the preferences and needs of the group and provide a “tailor made” skiing experience.

A favorite with many skiers is the tree skiing on the great ridges. A group can ski for many days on any one ridge and not run out of fresh snow. Runs pass through old burns with widely spaced snags, living forest with open glades and cut blocks with deeply buried stumps that form “pillows” and undulations of endless variety.

Intermediate skiers who rarely ski “the trees” not only find they can do it, but that it’s fun. The snow in the trees tends to be deeper and unaffected by sun and wind. Snow is soft and consistent and there are no moguls and lumps. The short, fat powder skis that can be rented from Chatter Creek make it all pretty easy. Novices learn very quickly. Cat skiing does not require prior experience or special equipment, just boots and clothing and enthusiasm.

Cat skiing at Chatter Creek is well suited for skiers and snowboarders having a wide range of ability. My group of expert skiers has enjoyed every trip and is always challenged and experiencing new terrain. Chatter Creek recommends that guests be at least strong intermediate skiers. However, I have organized “friends and family” groups that have included skiers of lesser ability and everyone got on fine. Good physical condition makes up for a lack of experience. Ages have ranged from the 20’s to 70, with most group members in the 50 to 65 year range.

As the ski-day wears on and people may begin to tire, guests are welcome to sit-out a run and ride back down the hill with the snowcat driver. If someone wants to “call it a day”, a staff member will drive the guest back to the lodge on a snowmobile.

Runs can vary from about 800 vertical feet to over 2000 ft. Typical runs drop 1200 to 1500 ft. The amount of skiing done in a day depends entirely on the strength of the group. Daily “vertical” usually varies from 9,000 to 14,000 feet. Very fast groups may do 16,000 ft, or even more. Our group has always worn itself out, day after day.

A nice feature at Chatter Creek is that almost always, the cat picks up the group where they finish their run. Unlike some operations, there is very little skiing on hard-packed roads to get to the cat.

The perfect end to a day at Chatter Creek is a run on Lodge Ridge, ending at the door of Vertebrae Lodge (http://www.lodge-life-at-chatter-creek.blogspot.com). We step out of our skis and boards and into the bar, dropping into soft couches, with cold beers in hand. After some laughs with our mates and browsing on the afternoon snacks, we stumble off to the outdoor hot tub to enjoy another beer or a Caesar and to watch the sunlight disappear from the peaks.

In 2004, Chatter Creek built a second 9000 sq. ft lodge and expanded to 36 clients. All guests enjoy double occupancy bedrooms, each with a private bathroom. Our group has expanded to fill the lodge and we have 36 enthusiastic skiers and snowboarders all signed up and waiting patiently for next year. Some of the old-boys are now taking along their grown offspring, and one cat is set aside for two entire families. It’s going to be a great party, with great skiing!

How to Keep Your Car Insurance Costs Affordable

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

As car insurance costs keep increasing, automobile owners are looking for discounts on car insurance. There are several assorted types of price reductions available and if you can save some money, then why not? Below is a list of general discounts that may be available to you. Check with your insurance underwriter to see if you’re eligible.

Personal-Related Price Reductions

These price reductions are usually given based on your performance as a driver and policy owner. The other discounts are given based on your present status in life.

  • Taking a Traffic School Class If by any chance you have recently got a ticket, you may attend traffic school either online or through a traditional setting to have your ticket expunged from your driving record. Indirectly, this will have an effect of lowering your yearly car insurance costs
  • Good Student discounts. Insurers know that students with higher GPAs are at lower risk of being involved in a car accident. Therefore, they will usually offer price reductions on your car insurance.
  • price reductions for Your Profession. There are many professions that can make you eligible for automobile insurance price reductions. Registered nurses, scientists, government employees, to name a few, all may be eligible to receive discounts on their automobile insurance.
  • deductions for seniors. People over 55 can usually receive price reductions on their car insurance. Sometimes, you may also need to take a defensive driving course to qualify for the insurance discount. Check with your local DMV to find out what classes are available.
  • Loyalty Credits. If you’ve been a loyal, solid, long-standing customer of your insurer, they may reward your business with discounts too.
  • Keep a Good Driving Record. Your unspoiled driving history will also provide you with auto insurance deductions. Some auto insurance companies provide discounts for drivers and insurance policy holders who have not been in accidents or have not received any traffic tickets for a certain period of time.
  • Multi-line Insurance Discount. If you have more than one type of insurance policy with the same insurance underwriter, many times you’ll also be able to get cheaper rates from them.
  • Vehicle Based Insurance Discounts

The type of car you drive can be a huge factor in defining the monthly cost of car insurance. There are also extra features that you can add to your car to make it more affordable to insure.

    1. Car Air Bags. There are various types of airbags: front, rear, side-curtain, etc. The more you’re protected, the cheaper your automobile insurance rates could be.
    2. Anti-Lock Brakes System (ABS). Believe it or not, some states require that automobile insurance companies give deductions to customers whose automobiles are equipped with ABS.
    3. Having Anti-Theft Devices Installed. Any type of add-on to deter someone from breaking into or stealing your car can also provide you with lower insurance costs.

Be Prepared in the Event Computer Disaster Strikes

    Thursday, February 26th, 2009

    Computers

Businesses and individuals alike have all grown to rely on computers. The reliance is never more apparent than when something happens to the horrid little box that makes our lives easier. We expect computers to react a certain way, in certain situations. It nearly always comes as a surprise when the beloved little box, know as a computer, refuses to boot up. Probably even more shocking, is the dawning that we’ve neglected to backup or prepare for the unforeseen disaster that has just been thrust upon us.

Regardless of the number of times you have experienced the dread of being unable to access the information trapped in the god-awful computerized contraption, we are always invariably unprepared.

The reality of it is that computers, not only contain moving parts, but they like other machines, they are prone to failure at some point in their lives. Not only can hardware failures occur, but viruses can also corrupt data making it impossible to retrieve. Regardless of the litany of words used to bully the box into behaving, the truth is that the only offence is a good defense.

So how do you prepare for a computer tragedy?

    Prepare for the Worst

In structuring an offense it’s important to realize the power of reinforcements: backups are invaluable and will save countless hours of shameless degradation. Be sure that you backup data and files on a regular basis, there are a number of tools that will automate the process.

It is critical that you check the backup log to ensure that a backup was completed properly. I cannot begin to describe the devastation felt when it is realized that though there was a backup process in place, the backup never actually occurred. Realizing this during a restore is likely to push any computer lover over the edge. It is a good idea to store a weekly back up off site. This is especially helpful, if an unforeseen fire or a natural disaster strikes.

    Protection is critical!

    Build A Wall

If the computer has Internet access, either a hardware or software firewall (or combination there of) must be used. The firewall creates a barrier between a computer and the world. Without a firewall, Internet worms are capable of exploiting security holes and are able to create what are referred to as ‘back doors’. These back doors can then be used to gain access to personal information stored on the computer, including password files, and financial information.

    Trust No One

If you are an avid Internet surfer or downloader be sure to scan any downloads prior to opening or installing. Up to date anti-virus software should be used to ensure, that computers do not become infected with malicious viruses that will ruin your life. Scan any email attachments prior to opening regardless of whom they are from. Files that end with .scr, .pif and .exe can contain viruses that will wreak havoc with your data and emotional well being.

Preparedness goes a long way, and a little foresight will ensure that, while a computer might be an inconvenience, you will not be defeated.

The Manufacturer Profiles Bolt-on Solutions with Insight by Chuck Stewart of Encompix Manufacturing

    Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

The November issue of The Manufacturer reviewed Bolt-on Solutions. It noted, some boutique ERP providers cautiously embrace the bolt-on model. “Our software supports engineering intensive companies,” says Chuck Stewart, founder and executive vice president of Cincinnati, OH-based Encompix, an ERP provider for companies in the engineer to order, make to order, and project management industries. “Sometimes there is functionality that is needed where it makes sense to use a bolt-on application. We don’t want to reinvent.” Stewart uses the example of project management software as a realistic bolt-on application. “Microsoft Project is an industry standard and most, if not all, of our customers use it. It behooves us to make sure that it integrates easily into our ERP system.” It is an application that Stewart has no desire to reinvent.

Stewart advocates an open relationship with third party software providers so he can keep his service levels high and provide support to his installed base. “I’m happy to see an improving relationship with software providers that allow us to identify integrations issues and advise the customer,” says Stewart. “Customers grow weary of tight integration processes and the trouble they cause, both in cost and time, is unacceptable.” He also sees an evolving open standard developing across the industry that is helping ERP companies and third party providers alike. “The architecture is changing and integration is becoming easier,” says Stewart. “We are much more in the loop when it comes to upgrades and changes in software, including being invited to conferences and having access to design teams when necessary.”

Encompix has filled the manufacturing software requirements of Engineer-to-Order companies since 1992. The company name reflects the commitment to developing business application solutions that encompass the complex areas of project-based and job-based manufacturing.

Seven Daft Things Not To Do To Your Website

    Monday, February 23rd, 2009

    1. Splash pages

Most of the time splash pages are uncalled for. There are only a handful of reasons why you may ever need to use a splash page on your website but these reasons don’t seem to apply to most of the splash pages you can see on the Internet. The worst example of a splash page is when a company creates a page and adds their logo with no content. They may also add a ‘click here to enter’ button link when there is no reason to have not entered already.

If a website was a printed brochure then it may be fine to put a company logo on the front cover with no text to accompany it – however on the Internet it is a bit of a no-no. Print and web are different mediums and as such require different approaches.

I say get to the point and get to the point fast, as you only have about 8 seconds to impress the typical visitor so you don’t want to throw obstacles like splash pages in their way.

    2. Create large file size Flash Intros

Its ill advised to put a heavy loading flash movie right at the top end of a website, especially if you actually want people to read pages on your site. A flash intro can look impressive but used irresponsibly can alienate a proportion of users. Even for those interested in motion graphics the novelty will likely wear thin after a couple of viewings so you need to offer a skip intro button if you use a Flash Intro Movie.

At the same time you can make sure you do get value from any Flash motion graphics you commission. Think of a flash movie more as a commercial and they become more useful tools. Get the intro made as a general purpose sales movie and you can put it on CD ROM or include it as part of any online or mailing list promotion.

    3. Make pages full of exceedingly small text

Really small text is an often ignored but growing problem. Webmasters can spend time and effort creating content for their website, upload it to the web server so the world can see what they have to say, but then they decide to show it in a tiny font size.

There is a simple rule here; text needs to be easy to read if you want people to absorb your message. It’s respecting the user to provide any content you wish them to read in a size that is suitable for the web. Font size 2 would be the smallest size you would want to use. If your target audience is over 40 then it is recommended font sizes are increased to point size 3. Do not assume your website visitors all carry a magnifying glass with them – keep body fonts at a sensible size.

    4. Very long or complicated enquiry forms

Most folks have a million and one things to do, and one big reason people like using the Internet is to SAVE TIME – so bare this in mind.

Whilst website owners need to capture a certain level of customer info on lead generating websites, visitors like things to be quick, easy and simple. So an online form with 25 mandatory input fields so a user can make an enquiry is not a good idea.

Keep online enquiry forms down to essential info only. Keep it simple but get the information you need. Quick and easy signup forms can still be effective and you could always chose to offer a short form and a longer option – that way the user can decide which option is best for them.

    5. Complex rollover navigation systems

Complex rollover navigation bars using JavaScript or a similar code can seem like a great option and you can be excused for wondering why this is seen as a bit of a no-no.

The reason why these rollover or drop downs are not always such a hit is that after analysing user behaviour on a number of websites, it shows that very few people seem to use rollover button options more than one deep. In essence the idea that these navigational tools made things easier for users seems a little flawed.

The simpler the navigation is, the more it will connect with users. Limit the options and use clear common sense descriptive labelling for buttons and this will often out-perform a complex roll over approach. Keeping the navigation simple also makes for smaller file sizes and quicker loading pages.

    6. Excessive movement & animation

Contrary to popular belief, constant movement and flickering may not be a successful way to engage a website user. The reason being is that web users are developing a level of ‘advertising immunity’ or what Jakob Nielsen of www.useit.com has referred to as ‘banner blindness’.

Banner Blindness is a technique surfers have developed to filter out adverts and promotional material. They have learned after some experience that these types of ads are generally unhelpful and so are less likely to click on them. So if you use a lot of moving pictures and flickering images on your website you can run the risk of key areas of your website being ignored.

Where once banner ads got reasonable click through rates, the number has fallen dramatically in the last few years. A safer way to promote important areas of the site is via static buttons that are clearly identifiable and use descriptive language to tell the user which page they lead to.

    7. Lots of links out to other sites from your homepage

When time and effort is put into attracting a visitor to your site why would anyone want to give that user a chance to leave the website on arrival? It makes sense to avoid placing lots of links out from your homepage to other sites – unless you’re an advertising or affiliate website.

Visitors are your prospects. You work to get them there and your job is to keep them there and direct them to your key destination pages. If you need to link out to partners from a top-level page on your site, then think about creating an internal page for this purpose and link to that from your home page.

    Maintaining Your Website

    Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Contrary to what some believe, a web site should definitely not be set up and then forgotten. Over time, information about your company can and will change. If your website remains unchanged, the world will pass it by. A website is not a one-time investment, but something to be cultivated and maintained.

Whether you do the maintenance on your site yourself or have someone else do it for you, you still need to personally review the write-ups on your website every month or two to ensure that they remain accurate. It often helps to get someone else to look at it with you. You may look at it so often that you overlook something, where the other person may see it immediately.

In addition to reviewing the write-up of the site, also make sure that all the links are working. Make sure that they go to the page that you intended them to go to. If they do not, you may need to do a little hunting to find out where they should link to now. Remember, Google and other search engines can help a lot in this process. And if comes down to it, rework that page’s content so that the link is not required.

Remove content for events that have long since passed. Keep all the pages with dates on them current. Those types of pages should be checked more often than your other pages.

Also, make sure any forms or other custom programming on your website continues to work. Although any web programs will likely remain unchanged, server upgrades can often cause those programs to no longer work in the way the programmer originally intended. As a frequent programmer myself, I can attest to that.

Finally, make sure you check for any broken images. Hopefully all the images on your site are hosted by you, which can decrease the chance of that happening. Still, you need to make sure that all of the images are there.

Again, even if you have someone else perform the actual work on your site, you are the one that knows your company best. You should be the one checking the site on a regular basis to make sure all information is up-to-date.

Tips and Tricks for Traffic & Sales to Your Site!

    Thursday, February 19th, 2009

When Designing a Website that will be successful
there are a number of important tips and tricks you
should take into account if you want to Capture Sales
and build a list of trusted clients.

1)Content amd more content, relevant to
    your site and constantly updated.
Content that supports what it is
    your selling and industry related.

2)That it Loads Quickly and Easily,
    many people click off after
10 seconds so you need to capture there
    attention quickly.

3)Look Okay and easy to Navigate: Some people
put too much information on there site and
    there product gets lost among
everything else. An interactive, well set out
site is best and keeps it search engine friendly.
    Try Googlemaps.

4)Add Value to your Site, Yes you make your
site a Value Added Website. In other words
you GIVE them something, something that
will bring them back to you that will help
them remember you as being a useful site,
    an interesting site.

5)User Friendly: Make it easy to Purchase,
Subscribe to your newsletter or contact
you to get the information or product
    they desire.

6)If you’re not building a list to sell to
over and over again you’re throwing tons of
money down the drain. In fact, a good
idea is to actually not even sell the product
and just give it away free to build your list.

7)If possible you should capture your visitors.
When you do capture them, look after them,
nurture them, communicate with them and
send them information via email. You can
set this up very easily by using an autoresponder.
But don’t bombard them with useless information.

8)Write Articles relevant to your site and have
a blog page for your site full of Links to
your products and info written by you
    and other experts.

Always keep adding to your website
and work at getting links pointing to your
    site with relevant keywords sourced
from google adwords and watch your
    customer base and income GROW!
