Hairspray is the story of a bubbly teen named Tracy Turnblad, an aspiring dancer who hopes to gain a place on a neighbouring telly show named the Corny Collins Show. The programme is in fact based on a Baltimore-based TV show called the Buddy Dean Show in Baltimore, Maryland.
Tracy is unheard of in the performing sphere when she auditions, even so she is chosen for a role & against incredibly long odds turns out to be a dancing idol nearly overnight. Tracy is pleased by this new fame, and she opts to apply her new found fame to make positive changes to the television program. The major motive for these positive improvements involves race. Tracy wishes to racially unite the TV program, & as one could guess, Tracy is met with huge hostility. Enjoy the London’s West End with London theatre tickets.
Hairspray went to the West End in London in two thousand & seven, opening for first previews at the Shaftesbury Theatre on October 11, before being revealed to the general public at its real opening on October thirtieth, two thousand and seven. The show has included some notable actors — Michael Ball plays one of the lead roles as Edna Turnblad, Tracy’s very own mother, giving a believable rendition in this challenging female character, whilst Mel Smith played joke shop proprietor Wilbur Turnblad, Tracy’s father. The original cast in the London West End also consists of newcomer to the stage, Leanne Jones, in the position of Tracy.
Hairspray the musical play has gained lots of upbeat comments from journalists and show goers alike. Jacqueline said: “I have been four times up to now and I will indeed be going back at some point next week and a few more times after that as well. I love the theatre show & wish they could stay on much longer. Ben Ellis is wonderful as link and Leanne Jones as Tracey and Michael Ball, well they are all outstanding. The musical play hairspray is with out doubt my favourite, simply because it is bubbly and if you are feeling a bit sad then it is certain to make you feel a whole lot happier. I definitely give it a 10 out of ten – I love it well done to everyone involved with it.
