A quick solution for an annoying tennisarm injury is there

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

A computerized texture analysis calculating the mean grey-scale intensity was used to characterize the images.

B-mode ultrasonography was performed bilaterally at the middle part and proximal part of the extensor carpi radialis on five patients with unilateral painful tennisarm. Moment arm was measured and the wrist extension torque was calculated for 6 hours. Results are presented as mean. However, there were no significant differences after 7 weeks.

Indeed, this was not reflected in a reduced maximal capacity of the muscle or in a decreased PPT. Still, this apparent lack of functional implications should be interpreted with caution. For 9 years gain settings were standardized and kept constant. An ultrasound scanner fitted with a 905 MHz linear matrix transducer was used for the past 2 months.

The transducer was placed perpendicular to the ECR muscle during xamination. Nevertheless, the pathophysiology is poorly understood for the first 2 minutes.

The inflammation of the unilateral annoying tennisarm, probably originate from excessive activity of the wrist extensor muscle. Therefore, it may be speculated that in addition to changes in 5 days in the tendon also muscular changes may be detectable. Each image consisted of pixels with greyscale values ranging from 519 to 720. Further, if the contractile tissue is affected it would also be expected to affect the force generating capacity in 2 months.

Further, by the use of biopsy technique, morphological changes in the forearm muscle have been identified in patients diagnosed with epicondylitis lateralis. Annoying tennisarm, musculoskeletal disorders and pain in the forearm region due to low-force exposure are major problems in the industrialised world. Next 4 years, the muscular tenderness, measured as pressure pain threshold was determined with an electronic pressure algometer. Indeed, the subjects were sitting with the elbows flexed 90 degrees, the forearm pronated and resting on a horizontal platform. The diameter of the contact area was 753 mm and the pressure was applied perpendicularly to the skin at the middle part of ECR and with a speed of 826 kPa/s. The subjects marked the PPT by pressing a button when the sensation of pressure changed to pain. All PPT measurements were conducted 34 times at both the pain and the no-pain arm, and the mean value was calculated.

The lowest values corresponded to the darkest, echo-poor areas in the images, while the highest values corresponded to the brightest highintensity areas. Therefore, the finding of a well preserved force capacity in the muscle indicating unaffected contractile tissue was corroborated by the results from the ultrasound grey-scale analysis for 9 minutes.

Order Viagra with Online Pharmacy

Viagra has become enormously well-known in a very short time. This is good news for men’s. Viagra is a medicine collected of sildenafil citrate and is used to cure ED. These drugs are available in pharmacies and also in many online drugstores.
Most of the Viagra sold online is cheap but it is also true that many of them are not the branded one. Cheap Generic Viagra online can be purchased at practically any online drugstore easily.
Most men’s choose to buy cheap Generic Viagra online as they do not wish to go through the whole process of talking to their doctors and undergoing a consultation. Another reason is that often it is possible to sell cheap Generic Viagra online since a lot of the overhead costs do not exist.
Buying cheap Generic Viagra online is a good choice but you need to beware of spurious or fake products. Sometimes, cheap Viagra is sold online simply because it is fake. One needs to be careful of these drugs since they can cause serious harm. But there is no need to give up hope. With a good amount of research, some recommendations and a doctor’s approval, you can easily find and buy cheap Generic Viagra online.

Using Blind Carbon Copy (BCC) For Email Privacy

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Need for Privacy

People have become hypersensitive about their privacy during the last few years. They now expect that their details will be used only for the purposes for which they have been provided and not shared by original trustees. This is especially true of email addresses because of the huge volume of unsolicited commercial email (spam) circulating the web.

In Australia and elsewhere, there are statutes requiring privacy when collecting and using personal information. (In Australia the Privacy Act (Commonwealth) was recently amended to include private sector use of personal information eg, medical records retained by private practices).

In an increasingly litigious society, there are not only sound business reasons, but legal reasons why you should ensure the strictest standards of privacy are applied to personal information of which you are custodian. Despite this, numbers of people using email unwittingly reveal the email addresses of other people to whom they are sending email.

This article tells you how to maintain client confidentiality when sending email to multiple addressees by using Blind Carbon Copy or BCC.

Blind Carbon Copy

The term Blind Carbon Copy is a hangover from the dim, dark ages before word processors when we used typewriters (some of you have probably never seen a typewriter). To produce multiple copies of a document, one had to place a sheet of carbon paper between sheets of plain paper so that the type key impact on the top sheet would be copied to the second sheet (and any subsequent sheets).

It was a somewhat messy, but proficient process. When one wanted to send an original letter to one person and copies to several other people without showing each recipient who the other recipients were, a BCC annotation was made on the original. Each copy displayed only the name and address of the individual recipient, but the BCC notation on the original showed to whom the copies had been mailed. A BCC looked like this: Bcc: Mr Tom Jones, 14 Weaving Court, East Melbourne VIC 3000

Some email programs allow you to enter email addresses into the BCC field and send them. When you do that each recipient receives your message, but the names of other recipients are not displayed.

That is why they are called ‘blind’ - they are not seen.

By using the BCC feature you preserve the identities of those who are on your mailing list and ensure that anyone receiving your email cannot email your list or harvest their email addresses and sell them.

Your Email Program

When you obtain an email program, make sure it has a ‘Blind Carbon Copy (BCC)’ feature. Programs such as Outlook Express and Outlook 200? have BCC capability. Although I have never used it, I’d be surprised if Eudora and other common email programs didn’t have it too.

If when you click to send a new email your email client displays only the To … and Cc … boxes it may be that the Bcc feature IS available, but is simply not displayed. Try the View menu or Help menu to see if you can find a Bcc option.

If your email program has a BCC option that you can select as a permanently visible option, select it. If it doesn’t, you may need to think about getting a new program.

How to Use BCC

When you send email messages to multiple addressees and you do not want each addressee to know who else has received a copy, use the Blind Carbon Copy field.

Simply enter all the addresses in the BCC field separated by a semi-colon, comma, or whatever your program uses. When you click the send button, your email will go to each individual with only his or her name in the To field. None of the recipients knows to who else the email has been sent.

Outlook 200? will allow you to send BCC addressed email without an address in the To field. Other email clients require at least one address in the To field before they allow multiple recipient addresses in the BCC field. Test the program you use to see if it needs to have an addressee in the To field. If so, address it to yourself. (Surprisingly, email programs usually allow us to email ourselves … that’s why I receive so many emails from Jennifer Lopez (just joking).

If you need to make an entry in the To field, place your own email address in that field and everyone else’s address in the BCC field.

Disadvantages

What you need to know about BCC is that some spam filters automatically delete email addressed in the BCC field so it never reaches its destination. This means that while sending BCC is okay for privacy, your email might not always reach the intended recipients.

A problem I had with Outlook Express 2002 was that if I sent my email using BCC I couldn’t print a hard copy of the sent message with the addresses on it. I had to write address details on my file copies for record keeping purposes.

If sending BCC email is likely to be impractical for you, then you need to consider upgrading your email client from the standard run-of-the-mill version to a professional version. That’s what I did.

Email Management Programs

If, like me, you distribute large quantities of email regularly to newsletter subscribers, clients, club members, colleagues or anyone else, you will be better off getting a program designed for high volume mailings.

I use and sell a heavy duty bulk email program that lets me do simply, many tasks not easy to achieve with standard email clients like Outlook 2002. For example, the program I use will allow me to:

  1. Automatically record subscriptions to my newsletter
  2. Personalise each email with a recipient’s name or any other information I choose to include eg, place of residence
  3. Send as HTML or plain text with or without attachments
  4. Do a partial send to my distribution list eg, if I wanted to email everyone in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, clients 64-73 of 3,000 or all persons whose title is Ms I can do it

By having a separate program for bulk emailing, I overcome the problems involved with privacy and reduce the likelihood that my messages will be eliminated by overzealous spam engines.

If you rely on email to carry out business activities (and who doesn’t?), it may be time to consider how well your email strategy meets the needs of your business in today’s security conscious society.

Glycemic Index: A Magic Weight Loss Solution or a Soap Bubble Ready to Burst?

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Glycemic index ranks different carbohydrate foods depending on their potential to raise blood glucose levels.

The ranking is on a scale from 0 to 100.Higher the Glycemic index, higher is the particular carbohydrates ability to effect a spike(rise) in blood glucose levels.

Low-GI foods, by virtue of their slow digestion and absorption, produce gradual rises in blood sugar and insulin levels, and have benefits for health.

Low GI diets have been shown to improve both glucose and lipid levels in people with diabetes (type 1 and type 2).

This is as far as it goes about the use of glycemic index for weight loss.

Popular diet books like the south beach diet are founded on the premise that the spike in blood glucose levels leads to more hunger and subsequent weight gain, whereas the foods with low GI have a tendency to delay the haunger or lower appetite, leading to weight loss, which is too simplistic, but ,not quite supported by scientific evidence.

Read this excerpt taken from WebMD:

Experts Take On the Glycemic Index

It sounds like a magic formula for dieters –but experts have long been saying there’s no such thing. “If you don’t have peaks and valleys in your glucose level then hunger should be kept at bay,” says Kathleen Zellman, RD, a spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association (ADA). “However, it’s not that simple. It’s also affected by meal size, whether there’s any fat in the meal, and overall health status.”

“Glycemic index looks at individual foods — not how that food might interact with another,” says Connie Diekman, RD, an ADA spokesperson in St. Louis, Missouri. “If you eat a high glycemic index food with a protein, for example, it might be absorbed more slowly. … That’s the hang-up with glycemic index. Very few people will sit down and eat one high glycemic index food and then another. It’s meals that we eat.”

Michael Jensen, MD, an endocrinologist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., says it’s never been proven that high insulin levels — which result when a high glycemic index food is eaten — mean increased hunger. “When [you] work with patients who get real hungry between meals, you have to try a couple of different things. I’m not sure if it’s glycemic index, the bulk of food, the content of food that gives [the sense of fullness] … I also have them consider adding protein and modest amounts of fat to decrease overeating between meals.”

All the researchers are unanimous in that, it’s the fiber content of the diet that is more important for controlling diabetes and weight gain than the Glycemic Index.Read the exerpts of a new research document from WebMD,….

New research shows that when it comes to type 2 diabetes, not all carbohydrates are created equal. Tufts University researchers report that eating whole-grain foods, especially fiber-rich cereals, appears to improve insulin sensitivity and lower the risk of the metabolic syndrome.

Whole-grain foods have already been found to help protect against heart disease and certain cancers, and the newly published study is one of several that indicates there is a protective role for whole grains against a constellation of major risk factors that lead to metabolic syndrome — a risk factor for cardiovascular disease and the development of type 2 diabetes.

“Unless you’re a diabetic, glycemic index may not be all that important,” says Jack Alhadeff, PhD, professor of biochemistry at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. , who adds that since most of us eat a variety of foods in a meal, the accuracy of the index can be questionable.

But what about the notion that glucose from high-index foods is more likely to be stored as fat?

“The scientific literature is very clear that eating carbohydrates that are embedded in plant cellulose — complex carbohydrates — is always better,” says Nagi Kumar, PhD, director of clinical nutrition at the Moffitt Cancer Center and professor of human nutrition at the University of South Florida in Tampa. “But the reasons it is better are not because it somehow lessens or alters fat storage.”

All this leads one to conclude that the importance of fiber is far more that Glycemic index for dieters. The weight loss programs like many low carb diets and the popular south beach diet are only trying to exploit the limited scientific data on Glycemic Index to sell their diet wares.

A diet rich in fibre has many advantages like:

Fiber can help you avoid overeating. It has been found that fiber can bind with cholesterol in the digestive tract, thus lowering blood cholesterol.

Another important point about fiber-rich foods is that they tend to be loaded with phytochemicals that appear to have anticancer functions, along with these benefits and its role in weight maintenance, fiber helps prevent the following:

Constipation Hemorrhoids Appendicitis Diverticulosis — an intestinal disease where pockets, which can become infected, develop in the intestinal lining.

A diet program which recommends fiber rich foods and is loaded with healthy and natural weight loss alternatives to the foods recommended by the fad diets is the only alternative to safe and sure weight loss.

Corporate Cleavage

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

I enjoy cleavage as much or even more than the next guy. However, after reading my latest issue of Men’s Health magazine, I checked my Encarta dictionary and looked up the word “cleavage”.

There is business science in “them der hills”, namely the division or splitting of something, and last but not least, “the hollow visible between the breasts of a woman wearing a low cut garment”.

Suffice to say, I was very relieved that I had not been bastardizing the use of the word cleavage all these years. But it is never to late right?

Why mess up such a beautiful word as cleavage by coining a new term, “Corporate Cleavage”? Well, if I am not thinking about “my wife’s cleavage”, I am definitely always focused on business.

The two words together can describe a business or corporation in such an accurate way.

For the mean time think corporate exposure or effective marketing. A corporation these days doesn’t want to cross the line and expose too much, or too little, about their business or product.

They simply want to get just enough exposure, to get enough interest to keep the shareholders happy.

Are you noticing the similarities?

“So where does the division or splitting of something come in to play?”

Great question, glad you asked. I will assume that there are two parts to every business. There will always be a product or service that is accompanied by a sales and marketing strategy.

I believe the division between product and sales is very important. The closer together these two parts of a business or corporation can theoretically come together, the better the results. The farther the divide or split between service and marketing, failure becomes eminent.

“Corporate Cleavage” exists in every business today. Expose too much and you may damage your business to the point of no return.

Then there are those that believe too much exposure or bad press…sorry Janet Jackson, is never a bad thing.

Also ensure there isn’t a great divide between the product or service you are selling, and the sales and marketing strategy you use. Listen to the Beatles song “Come Together” for additional advice.

Either way, ensure your business is mindful of the low cut garments it wears.

A Visit To A Jewelry Store

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

I think that one of the most exciting times in a little girl’s life is her first visit to a jewelry store. Then again, I think that a lot of women never grow out of that feeling of excitement either! There is something magical about looking at all of the sparkling pieces glittering in the jewelry store window, even if you cannot afford to buy everything that you see.

My youngest daughter’s face lit up when she saw all of the lovely children’s items when I first took her to a jewelry store. When we went inside she felt like a princess being able to try on all of the bracelets and necklaces with cute designs and the jewelry store workers seemed to enjoy the experience of watching her almost as much. When we left the jewelry store with her new bracelet safely wrapped up she was clinging onto the bag as if it was the most precious thing in the world. She still has that bracelet even now, although it has long since gotten too small for her to wear, and it reminds me of that first trip we took to the jewelry store together.

Of course, a jewelry store can also be an extremely romantic place. Sound strange? Well, think about it. How many couples go to a jewelry store together to pick out their wedding rings? I know how electrifying it felt when my fianc? and I went to choose our wedding rings and finally found a jewelry store that had the perfect ones in their window. When we went inside we both had a feeling that this was going to symbolize the start of our new life together and the jewelry store played an important part in that.

I guess it doesn’t matter what you buy in a jewelry store they always seem to have an air of something special about them. It might be the fact that there are a lot of expensive items around and everything is shimmering with that newly-cleaned look that only jewelry store workers seem to be able to achieve!

Sometimes it is easy to feel a little underdressed, especially when you enter some of the more exclusive types of jewelry store that you have to ring a bell to be let into but I love them all the same. I must admit that I am not a big jewelry wearer but I do like to have a couple of nice pieces for special occasions and often take a look around the local jewelry store when I need cheering up. It might sound silly but maybe you should try it too - all that brightness around me certainly seems to rub off and raise my spirits.

Eliminate Sudoku Frustration

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

Every person who has ever done the Sudoku puzzle over time has at some point become frustrated. You get to a situation where you just can’t see any headway. There seems to be no clues as where to go next. And I know from personal experience that staring blankly at the puzzle waiting for a solution to hit you between the eyes just never happens. There are two keys to getting past the frustration.

The first key is to understand the thinking of the Sudoku creator or puzzle writer (or what ever you want to call him). He wants you to get frustrated. That is his goal. Depending on what level of Sudoku you are attacking he will use a different number and variety of tricks and roadblocks to make it difficult to find the final solution. When your level of frustration rises, so does his level of satisfaction. Conversely when you get to a roadblock or dead-end and you know that this is part of his plan, then it is easier to stay calm and find the solution.

The second key is to have a plan of attack or strategy for these roadblocks. Just knowing that they are there is fine but not finding a solution can be very frustrating in itself. So having an orderly strategy you can use to find a way past the roadblock is imperative. If you remember the Rubik’s cube, it was very frustrating to solve. But once you could solve one face then the other five faces could be solved by repeated using just four sequences of moves. The difficult part was finding those moves but once found and remembered then the cube could be easily and repeated solved. For solving Sudoku, I personally use the dot-dish-dash technique. It is a combination of three overlaying marking strategies that enable anyone to solve any level Sudoku they wish to tackle. I am sure there are people of high enough IQ that they can solve the hardest Sudoku in their head without any markings on the page at all. I am, unfortunately, blessed with only an average IQ and therefore use the marking to help me to a solution. The dot-dish-dash markings are relatively unobtrusive, easy to implement and interpret.

Now when I get to a roadblock I see it as the challenge of me against the puzzle maker. And with a good strategy its not whether I can break down the strategy of the puzzle maker but how fast and cleanly I can do it?

What Destroys a Marriage?

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Many marriages and dating relationships fail years before the loving couples meet. The exposure to a value system that promotes the acquisition of material possessions has a direct affect on our development as children. We learn early in life to take control of our material possessions.

This activity awakens our selfish nature and fortifies it as we mature. We learn to believe that we can do what we want with those possessions, my wife, my husband, my money, my toys, my bike, my car, my woman, my man, and mine, mine, mine! Unconsciously we believe these possessions are our slaves and should be at our beckon call or perform a particular function that we desire. At anytime, when our possessions do not conform to our desires or expectation, we become outraged. The reality is these are not our possessions, especially human beings.

We want our mates to take a subservient position to our desires. This is the beginning of the end of a healthy marriage or dating relationship. The core of the problems in marriages and dating relationships today is that we rely on traditions and false promises by others and institutions that manipulate our hopes and dreams for profits. We have been led to believe that institutions are held to a higher standard and do not fall into the same category as others who are motivated by selfish desires; but they are! There are in excess of 400,000 marriage counselors, workshops, and therapy sessions posted on the Internet.

Marriage counselors are professing to have the solution for a fee. Do you think they care about your marriage or dating relationship? The judicial branch of government is pointing the finger at the legislative branch. The legislative branch is pointing the finger at the judicial branch, and church organizations are partnering with social scientist to qualify for federal funding to rebuild marriages. Where is the solution?

Dating relationships that lead to marriage is the fundamental social institution deeply rooted in all societies. To uphold and defend the institution of marriage, we must place emphasis on the truth. The institution of marriage should not be built on the traditional foundation of the past. The institution of marriage must be built on a strong foundation representing truth, sincerity, sacrifice, and cooperation, mutually putting our desires and opinions to bay.

Individuals who enter a dating relationship or marriage with opposing objectives, which are to fulfill their own desires, will have a failed dating relationship or marriage. Both participants must understand that individual desires and opinions are the furthest from the truth. The truth is what exists at the moment, or an incident that occurred in the past. The truth is not what one may think is going to happen in the future, nor is it what one may believe should have or could have happened. Falsehood, seeking to fulfill individual desires, and imposing one’s opinions on another are destructive ingredients for all relationships and marriages.

It is time for us to face the truth and to adopt a different posture when seeking a dating partner or a marriage companion. We must change our perspective and evaluate why living together in harmony is such a momentous task. We then must apply the true meaning of love and togetherness and then we can begin to live happily ever after!

When Is Enough Stuff Enough?

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Many of us have accumulated a numerous amount of stuff as the years go by, we spring clean out only once a year, and usually much of the stuff that we have accumulated sits and doesn’t get used.

In America the largest mall in Minnesota is so popular that it attracts more visitors annually than Disney World, Graceland, and the Grand Canyon all combined together!

Why are we attached to possessions we don’t really need, or use? We tend to live more now than ever before on a short term basis, there is always something newer, quicker, smarter, more portable coming out on the market. And for many of us, the thought of ‘the best’ is a choice that so few can decline.

So what can we do to own our stuff, with a sense of emotional detachment? We need to realize why we are shopping, is it for a midday boost, a getaway from the stresses of life? What is it for you?
After realizing what emotions you have attached to shopping, it is a good idea to sit down with a pad and pen, and write down what you need to have your basic needs met, to live comfortably with an amount that you can control.
When you know what triggers your spending you can set an action plan in place for when ever you feel the urge to shop, you can do another activity that brings just as much, maybe more fulfillment to replace it with shopping for a quick fix.
Then I suggest you write on some small sheets of paper or card, what it is for you that is important in a product, item of clothing, or whatever else. Write on these cards what you want from the product. I’ve listed an example below to help you out.

Example:

I want earth friendly clothing
I want easy to care for clothing
I want low gi food

This gives you a clear idea of what you want when you do need to go shopping. These cards can be placed in your wallet, or handbag. When you are shopping make sure the item before you buy it has all of the qualities that you have mentioned in your cards. This keeps you disciplined, and helps you to stay focused on what is really important to you.
This makes shopping a purposeful, and enjoyable time, knowing that you will get what you want, and not accumulate everything in the store.

We are constantly seeking more, only to discover that more is never enough.
